This Semler kitchen was designed by Kalamazoo Custom Kitchens. The kitchen is a unique blend of maple with a glaze, cherry, and Hickory with a black wear away stain and two door styles. It is tied together with the granite countertop of blacks and browns. The multi level curved island is the anchor while the dominate stone hearth creates the focal point. Really neat features are the pull out can/spice storage right and left of cook top and the hidden micro behind a lift up door at the raised black end of the island that faces their table.

Japanese architecs, NENDO has finish renovating an old wooden house on the Shibuya River in Tokyo’s Ebisu neighbourhood into a live work space. Nendo using similar veins of dry moss on the interior walls to subtly connect existing spaces with newly renovated ones, and the house’s interior environment to its exterior one. Most wallpaper imitates nature through a two-dimensional representation of it, and cladding the walls entirely in moss would simply have been too much.

This apartment located in New York and was desingned by Ricard Meier Architects. From the architects “A set louvered wood and glass door panels enclose the elevator vestibule and mark the threshold of the aparment. The spatial layering provides a sense of privacy to the interior while allowing natural light to pentrate to the core. Immediately trough the door is a grand open space which extends the lenght of the tower along Fifth Avenue, and is unified by an elegant wood bookcase that exhibits an extraordinary collection of art objects. What had been a compartment of 3 individual rooms has been transformed into an espansive, flowing space that contains living area, less formal seating area with a retractable television, and a dining area adjacent to the open kitchen. Expansive plaster walls flanking the long sides of the space allow for the display of art and frame panoramic views of the park.”
