Mountain Refuge Chalet C6 House by dRN Arquitectos in Portillo, Los Andes, Chile

Designed by Nicolás del Río and Max Núñez, Mountain Refuge Chalet C6 house located in Portillo, Los Andes, Chile. Built in 231 sqm, this house was designed with main aim to survive in extreme weather with open landscape but still comfortable.

Project description from dRN Arquitectos;
The house had to disappear from the view of the Hotel during the winter. The interiors should be completely open to the view of the Inca Lagoon and the Tres Hermanos mountains to the north. The structure had to resist 6mts. of snow and ice on top of it. The interior of the house should be comfortable to receive the tiered bodies of lifetime skiers. 2 floors: bedrooms on top, 1 open space for the gathering of the family below. Extreme weather, open landscape, comfortable space: a silent architecture to combine them.
